EPA to Decide on WIPP Compliance with Radiation Protection Standards

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will determine whether the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), a proposed repository for radioactive waste, meets EPA's environmental radiation protection standards. The decision is based on a compliance certification application submitted by the Department of Energy (DOE) in 1996.
