EPA Extends Deadline for Secondary Lead Smelter Compliance with NESHAP

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has extended the deadline for secondary lead smelters to submit standard operating procedures (SOP) manuals and achieve compliance with the national emission standards for hazardous air pollutants (NESHAP) by six months, to June 23, 1997. This move aims to give affected facilities sufficient time to incorporate revised requirements into their SOP manuals and comply with the emission standards.
