Recordkeeping and Reporting by Political Committee: Best Efforts

On October 9, 1996, the Federal Election Commission published a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking requesting comments on proposed changes to its regulations requiring treasurers of political committees to exercise best efforts to obtain and report the complete identification of each individual who contributes more than $200 per calendar year. The Commission has decided to extend the comment period until January 31, 1997.
