NRC Proposes Generic Letter on Potential Degradation of Emergency Core Cooling System and Containment Spray System

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is proposing a generic letter to nuclear power plant operators about potential issues with the emergency core cooling system and containment spray system after a loss-of-coolant accident, due to construction and coating problems, as well as foreign material found in the containment. The NRC aims to alert operators to these concerns, which could impact the safety of their plants.
