NRC Accepts Long-Term Surveillance Plan for Bluewater Uranium Mill and Tailings Disposal Site

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has accepted the Long-Term Surveillance Plan (LTSP) submitted by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for the Bluewater uranium mill and tailings disposal site, allowing the site to be regulated by NRC under the general licensing provisions of 10 CFR 40.28. This action completes all requirements for closure of the Bluewater site under the Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act of 1978, as amended.
