NHTSA Denies Petition to Allow Cruise Control Indicator Lamp on Vehicles

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has denied a petition by Mr. Alan F. Van Horen to amend Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, which would have allowed an exterior lamp to serve as a visual indicator when a vehicle is in its cruise control mode. The NHTSA found no evidence to support the claim that such a lamp would enhance safety.
