NHTSA Amends Brake Safety Standards for Electric Vehicles

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has amended Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards Nos. 105 and 135 to address the unique characteristics of brake systems in electric vehicles, ensuring safe performance. The amendments apply to electric trucks, buses, and multipurpose passenger vehicles, as well as non-compliant electric passenger cars manufactured before September 1, 2000.
