US FCC Grants Changes to Local Access and Transport Area (LATA) Associations for Independent Telephone Companies

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved two petitions to modify local access and transport area (LATA) associations, allowing independent telephone companies to upgrade their networks by changing their LATA associations, as outlined in a Memorandum Opinion and Order released on August 6, 1997.
