FDA Approves New Food Additive for Polycarbonate Resins and Polyester Elastomers

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has amended its regulations to allow the safe use of a new light stabilizer/UV absorber, 2-(4,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)-5-(hexyloxy)phenol, in food-contact materials such as polycarbonate resins and polyester elastomers, following a petition from Ciba Specialty Chemicals Corp.
