In settlement of alleged violations of federal law prohibiting unfair or deceptive acts or practices and unfair methods of competition, this consent order prohibits, among other things, a Minnesota-based company and its officer from misrepresenting the efficacy and results of their weight-loss products, and requires the respondents to disclose that such product consists primarily of a booklet or pamphlet containing information and advice on weight loss, and to possess competent and reliable scientific evidence to substantiate any future advertisements for weight-loss booklets or for other weight-loss products or programs.
