American Cyanamid Company; Analysis To Aid Public Comment

In settlement of alleged violations of federal law prohibiting unfair or deceptive acts or practices and unfair methods of competition, this consent agreement, accepted subject to final Commission approval, would prohibit, among other things, the Parsipanny, New Jersey-based company from conditioning the payment of rebates or other incentives on the resale prices its dealers charge for its products, or from otherwise agreeing with its dealers to control or maintain resale prices. The complaint accompanying the consent agreement alleges that the company violated antitrust laws by fixing the resale prices of its agricultural chemical products.
