Zinc Oxide; Toxic Chemical Release Reporting; Community Right-To- Know

EPA is denying a petition to delist zinc oxide from the zinc compounds category subject to the reporting requirements under section 313 of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act of 1986 (EPCRA) and section 6607 of the Pollution Prevention Act of 1990 (PPA). This decision is based on evidence that zinc ion can become available from zinc oxide through several mechanisms and that zinc ion can reasonably be anticipated to be toxic to aquatic organisms.
