OPM Issues Interim Regulations on Assignment of Life Insurance Coverage for Federal Employees

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is issuing interim regulations to implement a change allowing all federal employees and former employees to irrevocably assign their life insurance coverage to someone else, a rule previously only applicable to judges. This change is part of Public Law 103-336, which was enacted in 1994.
