Periodic Inspection and Testing of Cylinders

RSPA proposes to amend the requirements contained in the Hazardous Materials Regulations pertaining to the maintenance and requalification of DOT specification and exemption cylinders used for transportation of compressed gases in commerce. The proposed changes would clarify current inspection and retest requirements, incorporate certain regulatory interpretations and add new provisions. The intent of the changes is to enhance public safety by providing greater guidance to persons who perform periodic inspection and testing of cylinders.
