NMFS Reallocates Pacific Cod TAC, Opens Hook-and-Line Fishing in Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is reallocating unused Pacific cod total allowable catch (TAC) from trawl gear vessels to hook-and-line or pot gear vessels in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area (BSAI), and opening directed fishing for Pacific cod by hook-and-line or pot gear vessels in the region to meet the TAC and support the goals of the North Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council).
