NHTSA Allows Importation of Non-Compliant 1989 Nissan Maxima Passenger Cars

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced that 1989 Nissan Maxima passenger cars not originally manufactured to meet all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards are eligible for importation into the United States due to their substantial similarity to a U.S.-certified version of the vehicle and their ability to be modified to conform to safety standards.
