NMFS Prohibits Pacific Cod Fishing in Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has prohibited directed fishing for Pacific cod by vessels using hook-and-line gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area due to the depletion of the 1995 prohibited species bycatch mortality allowance for Pacific halibut in this fishery.
