Nuclear Regulatory Commission to Consider Amendment Request for Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal License

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is reviewing an amendment request from Chem-Nuclear Systems, Incorporated (CNSI) to update its license for disposing of low-level radioactive waste containing special nuclear material (SNM). The license, which covers the facility near Barnwell, South Carolina, was amended in 1995 to include new requirements for waste disposal and monitoring.
