Nuclear Energy Institute Petitions NRC for Rulemaking to Extend Decommissioning Process

The Nuclear Energy Institute has submitted a petition to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, seeking to extend the monitoring and maintenance period for nuclear facilities that have not been used for 24 months, allowing licensees to delay decommissioning until after 24 months of inactivity.
