FAA Issues Special Conditions for Modified Fairchild Aircraft Models
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued special conditions for the Fairchild Aircraft Incorporated Model SA227-CC and SA227-DC (C-26B) airplanes, which have been modified by Rockwell Collins, to address the safety concerns related to the installation of electronic displays that are susceptible to high-intensity radiated fields (HIRF). The special conditions aim to ensure the equivalent level of safety as the applicable airworthiness standards for these modified aircraft.
