Bell Helicopter Textron, Inc. Proposes Update to Airworthiness Directive for Model 214B, 214B-1, and 214ST Helicopters
The company is seeking to modify its existing airworthiness directive for its Model 214B, 214B-1, and 214ST helicopters, which currently limits the retirement life of the main rotor trunnion to 60,000 high-power events, to instead use a maximum accumulated Retirement Index Number (RIN). This change aims to address fatigue issues with the trunnion, which have been found to fail prematurely due to increased torque events beyond the original anticipated usage.
