Advanced Television Systems and Their Impact on the Existing Television Service

The Commission is continuing the process for implementation of the next era of broadcast television: digital television (DTV) service. In this action, the Commission proposes policies for developing the initial DTV Table of Allotments, procedures for assigning DTV frequencies, and plans for spectrum recovery. The Commission also proposes technical criteria for the allotment of additional DTV frequencies and provides a draft DTV Table of Allotments. These proposals are intended to provide frequencies on which broadcasters will operate digital television service and to plan for recovery of spectrum from television service for other uses.
