US FCC Allocates UHF Channel 57 to Waverly, NY for Noncommercial Educational Use

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has allotted UHF TV Channel 57 to Waverly, New York, for noncommercial educational use, with the condition that the new station must be at least 5.1 kilometers (3.1 miles) north of Station WGBY-TV, Channel 57+, Springfield, MA, and other nearby stations, to avoid interference. The allotment was made at the request of WSKG Public Telecommunications Council, and Canadian concurrence was obtained due to the proximity of the communities to the US-Canadian border.
