Tobacco Marketing Quotas, Acreage Allotments, and Production Adjustment: A 1993 Act Amendment
The Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993 amended the Agricultural Adjustment Act of 1938 to establish domestic marketing assessment provisions for tobacco, requiring manufacturers to pay assessments and purchase additional tobacco if domestic tobacco constitutes less than 75% of total tobacco used in the US. This rule limits the DMA to the 1994 calendar year due to a 1995 Tariff Rate Quota proclamation.
