Estate Tax Closing Letter User Fee Update

The Treasury Department and the IRS are updating the user fee for estate tax closing letters, reducing the amount for authorized persons requesting the issuance of IRS Letter 627. The proposed regulations, which are also the text of the interim final regulations, aim to lower the fee for estate tax closing letters.
