Extension of Exclusion Period for Public Transit Buses Exceeding Interstate System Axle Weight Limits

The US Congress has directed the Secretary of Transportation to study and provide recommendations to address the issue of public transit buses exceeding Interstate System axle weight limits. The exclusion period, initially set for two years until October 6, 1994, has been extended for an additional year to allow public transit buses to continue operating on the Interstate System at authorized axle weights while a permanent solution is developed.
