US Commission Issues Rule on Child-Resistant Packaging for Mouthwashes with High Ethanol Content

The US Commission is issuing a rule requiring child-resistant packaging for mouthwashes containing 3 grams or more of ethanol, to protect children under 5 from serious injury or illness. The rule exempts products with non-removable dispensers containing at least 7% mint or cinnamon flavoring oils, dispensing no more than 0.03 grams of ethanol per pump, and containing less than 15 grams of ethanol per package.
