A New Regulatory Framework for Clearing Organizations
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (Commission or CFTC) is proposing rules to implement various provisions of the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000 ("CFMA"), which fundamentally alters the regulation of derivatives clearing organizations. These proposed rules apply to derivatives clearing organizations that are, are required to, or seek to become registered with the Commission and implement the statutory framework in the CFMA governing those entities.
