Chicago Mercantile Exchange Proposes Amendments to Live Cattle Futures Contract to Restrict Delivery to US-Born Cattle
The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) has submitted proposed amendments to its live cattle futures contract, which would require all delivered cattle to be born and raised in the United States, and sellers must provide documentation conforming to industry standards. The proposal is contingent on the US Department of Agriculture's implementation of Country Of Origin Labeling (COOL) regulations, which are set to take effect on September 30, 2004.
