Sea Turtle Conservation; Restrictions Applicable to Fishery Activities

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is issuing a temporary restriction to protect leatherback sea turtles in the waters from Cape Canaveral, FL to the North Carolina-Virginia border. The restriction may require short-term area closures for shrimp trawlers operating in the area if high turtle abundance levels are documented.
