Abovo, Inc., et al.; Prohibited Trade Practices, and Affirmative Corrective Actions

In settlement of alleged violations of federal law prohibiting unfair acts and practices and unfair methods of competition, this consent order prohibits, among other things, a Massachusetts company and its president from making false or unsubstantiated performance claims about any communication aid they offer in the future, and from making representations concerning the efficacy of their communication devices in enabling individuals with disabilities to communicate through facilitated communication, unless the respondents possess competent and reliable scientific evidence to substantiate the representation.
