Tele-Communications, Inc.; Prohibited Trade Practices, and Affirmative Corrective Actions

In settlement of alleged violations of federal law prohibiting unfair acts and practices and unfair methods of competition, this consent order permits, among other things, Tele-Communications, Inc. (TCI) to complete its acquisition of TeleCable, on the condition that it divest either its own Columbus cable TV assets, or those of TeleCable, within twelve months. If the divestiture is not completed on time, the consent order permits the Commission to appoint a trustee to complete a sale of one of the systems. In addition, TCI, for ten years, is required to obtain Commission approval before acquiring any cable TV system in the Columbus, GA, area.
