Streamlined Asylum Adjudication Rule by U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS)
The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) has introduced a new rule to streamline the adjudication of asylum applications. Asylum officers will now grant most applications and refer unapproved ones to immigration judges, who will handle the cases in deportation proceedings. The rule restricts employment authorization to applicants whose claims have been granted or remain pending for more than 150 days, aligning with the current practice at four INS Service Centers.
