Abandoned Mine Reclamation FundFee Collection and Coal Production Reporting

The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSM) of the United States Department of the Interior (DOI) is suspending a portion of its permanent program regulations found at 30 CFR 870.5 which defines the term Qualified hydrologic unit. This action is being taken in order to assure that the language of this definition comports with the language of Title IV of the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act (SMCRA) of 1977, as amended by the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1990 (November 5, 1990) which included the Abandoned Mine Reclamation Act of 1990, as amended, and by the Energy Policy Act of 1992 (October 24, 1992).
