Improving LMU Approval and Clarifying Definitions for Coal Mining Operations

The proposed rule aims to improve the approval process for logical mining units (LMU's) in coal mining operations, ensuring they are used efficiently and economically to develop Federal coal resources. It also clarifies the definition of 'producing' and removes a provision allowing extensions to the deadline for submitting resource recovery and protection plans.
