NHTSA Proposes Amendment to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard for Rear Door Locks and Retention Components
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is proposing to expand the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 206, which regulates door locks and retention components, to include back doors of passenger cars and multipurpose vehicles with a GVWR of 10,000 pounds or less, in an effort to reduce fatalities and injuries resulting from occupant ejections through rear doors.
