Airworthiness Directives; Pratt & Whitney JT8D Series Turbofan Engines
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Pratt & Whitney (PW) JT8D series turbofan engines, requiring inspections and recoating of high-pressure compressor (HPC) disks based on utilization rate to prevent engine failure and airframe damage. The directive follows an investigation into a severe corrosion failure on a 9th stage HPC disk.
