McDonnell Douglas Proposes Airworthiness Directive for DC-9, MD-88, and C-9 Airplanes
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is considering a new airworthiness directive (AD) that would require inspections and modifications to the tailcone release locking cable fitting assembly on McDonnell Douglas Model DC-9 and DC-9-80 series airplanes, Model MD-88 airplanes, and Model C-9 (military) airplanes to prevent jammed swaged balls from preventing tailcone deployment during emergencies.
