Airworthiness Directives; McDonnell Douglas Model MD-11 Series Airplanes

This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD) that is applicable to certain McDonnell Douglas Model MD-11 series airplanes. This action requires inspection to detect cracking of the upper spar angles of the outboard and inboard surfaces of certain wing pylons, and repair of any cracked upper spar angles. This amendment is prompted by a report of cracking in the upper spar cap of the wing pylon. The actions specified in this AD are intended to prevent reduced structural integrity of the airplane due to cracking of the upper spar cap.
