NMFS Seeks Public Comment on CWPA EFP Application for 2026-2027 Pacific Sardine Fishing Year

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is seeking public comment on an exempted fishing permit (EFP) application from the California Wetfish Producers Association (CWPA) for the 2026-2027 fishing year. The CWPA is requesting an exemption from the expected prohibition on primary directed fishing for Pacific sardine to support industry-based scientific research and offset fishing costs.
