NMFS Prohibits Pacific Cod Fishing in Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Area

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has banned fishing for Pacific cod in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area using hook-and-line or pot gear, in order to prevent exceeding the 1994 catch limit for vessels using these methods in the area.
