NMFS Seeks Authorization to Take Marine Mammals Incidental to Coastal Fireworks Displays at Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is requesting permission to capture marine mammals as a byproduct of professional fireworks displays in Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, California, over the next five years, in accordance with the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA). NMFS is also proposing new regulations to govern this activity and is seeking public input on the proposed rules.
