US Proposes Rule to Regulate Silky Shark Fishing in Atlantic Ocean

The National Marine Fisheries Service is proposing a rule to implement the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) recommendation 11-08, which prohibits retaining, transshipping, or landing of silky sharks caught in association with ICCAT fisheries, and also aims to improve domestic enforcement capabilities by prohibiting the storing, selling, and purchasing of the species.
