DOD Rolls Back Annuity Provider Regulation, Citing Unnecessary Burden on Americans

The Department of Defense (DOD) has finalized a rule removing a 2008 regulation that provided a safe harbor for selecting annuity providers for individual retirement plans, citing its unnecessary burden on Americans and the existence of a more streamlined fiduciary safe harbor under the Employee Retirement Income Act of 1974 (ERISA) that was added in 2019.
