FCC Extends Waivers for Telecommunications Relay Services and Speech-to-Speech Services for Individuals With Hearing and Speech Disabilities
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has extended waivers for certain Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS) mandatory minimum standards for Video Relay Service (VRS) and Internet Protocol Relay (IP Relay) for an additional year, citing technological infeasibility. The waivers, which include exemptions from standards for services such as one-line voice carry over and speech-to-speech, must be reviewed by April 16, 2011, to determine their continued necessity.
