EPA Proposes to Regulate Prions as Pests Under FIFRA

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed a rule to declare prions, a type of infectious protein particle, as pests under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), requiring companies to obtain EPA approval before distributing or selling products intended to reduce prion infectivity on inanimate surfaces.
