DOE Makes Draft Environmental Impact Statement for NRG's CO2 Capture and Sequestration Project Available for Public Review

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has released a draft environmental impact statement (EIS) for the W.A. Parish Post-Combustion CO2 Capture and Sequestration Project, a proposed project by NRG Energy, Inc. that aims to demonstrate the commercial feasibility of a retrofit, commercial-scale CO2 capture and compression system, with the potential to capture at least 90 percent of CO2 emissions from a 250-megawatt equivalent power plant, and utilize the captured CO2 for enhanced oil recovery and long-term sequestration.
